VdA participates in the 37th Christmas Party of the Vida e Paz Community

29 December, 2025

The Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation has once again joined the 37th Christmas Party with Homeless People organised by the Comunidade Vida e Paz. The initiative took place from 19 to 21 December at the Cantina Velha at Cidade Universitária, a space that became a symbol of community, care and hope.

Throughout these days, 30 volunteers from VdA were united by a common purpose: to stand by those who need it most, providing support in several areas.

The Christmas Party provided more than 1,870 people in socially vulnerable situations access to essential services such as warm meals, healthcare, showers, barber services and clothing.

The Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation would like to thank all the volunteers who participated in this party. Thank you for bringing hope where it is most needed!

'At this magnificent event, we met extraordinary people who showed impressive generosity. People who, despite having lives much more difficult than ours, still find time to help others. People who do not settle, who move away, who care about those who are vulnerable and going through extremely difficult times in their lives. We realise that a small gesture can mean a lot, and that we live in a privileged world far away from the reality of so many people. We value our lives more and feel that, although we are tiny, we can also contribute to a better world. A world that is not just war and violence, which the media so often reports on.‘ - Marta Oliveira Pinto, Facilities & Procurement Management Area Coordinator

’It was an extraordinary initiative, marked by flawless organisation and a collective spirit that was felt at every moment. The dedication and joy of everyone present was visible and contagious. This initiative filled my heart, not only because of the involvement of my colleagues, but also because of the impact it has on the people we support. Small gestures can transform lives, and this experience is proof of that.' - Patrícia Pereira Gomes, Office Services Management Coordinator

'Participating in the 37th Christmas Party of the Vida e Paz Community was, once again, a remarkable experience. In a gathering designed to bring a bit of Christmas spirit to those living in homelessness, we realised how simple gestures — such as giving our time — can make all the difference. The structure set up for these three days is truly remarkable: barbers, showers, a wardrobe, medical and psychological appointments, five meal times, libraries and social areas, among many other supports that restore dignity and well-being to the guests. Giving a little of ourselves is immensely rewarding: we always receive much more than we give.' - Rita Rocha, Associate in the Labour Practice Area

'It was a very enriching experience. It's great to be able to feel part of a community and contribute towards its well-being in some way. I highly recommend it!' - Joana de Simas Leite, Trainee in the Litigation & Arbitration Practice Area
