Zambujal 360: A Visit to the First Social Housing Estate to Act as an Ambassador for the 17 SDGs

26 June, 2026

Organised by the associations Ad Gentes and CAZAmbujal, 27 VdA staff members took part in a visit to the 'Zambujal 360' project.

Over the course of a morning, we visited the Zambujal Urban Art Gallery, which features 17 murals inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the visit, we had the opportunity to learn about the story behind each mural and the impact the project has had on the community, including the mural dedicated to SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – sponsored by the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation.

More than just a visit, this was an opportunity to reflect on the role of art in driving social change and on the impact that individual involvement can have in building more inclusive communities.

We also launched a campaign to collect essential items to support the children and families of the Zambujal neighbourhood. Thanks to everyone’s contributions, we were able to collect food and hygiene products, which were subsequently donated to CooperActiva on the day of the visit.

Congratulations to the Zambujal 360 team for the inspiring work they are doing in the Zambujal neighbourhood, and thank you to all our staff for their enthusiasm, engagement and curiosity.
