VdA participates in Women’s Day initiative organised by Teach For Portugal

14 March, 2025

As part of the collaboration between the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and Teach For Portugal, on 12 March Betyna Jaques was a guest speaker at a session dedicated to Women’s Day that brought together 53 secondary school students from the Parede School Group.

During this session focused on gender equality, VdA lawyer Betyna Jaques shared her professional journey with the students, highlighting the challenges she has faced throughout her career and how she transformed these challenges into opportunities for growth.

Throughout the morning, the students were encouraged to reflect on the impact of their actions on their daily lives and the crucial role each can play in building a more collaborative society between men and women. This exchange of ideas and experiences raised the students’ awareness of the importance of equity and sowed the seeds of essential values, which will hopefully germinate and contribute to positive and lasting change.

Since 2018, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation has supported Teach For Portugal, a non-profit organisation that belongs to the global Teach For All network. Teach For Portugal acts in schools in disadvantaged contexts with the aim of reducing educational inequality and giving children the opportunity to reach their full potential.
