Another year has gone by in the Junior Achievement Portugal’s “The Company” program

01 June, 2022

As part of The Company program, João Velez de Lima, Susana Gonçalves and Maria Figueira were jurors in one of the biggest events of Junior Achievement Portugal (JAP) – the JAP Unlimited.

JAP Unlimited – regional competitions – affords students participating in The Company program a first opportunity to present their business ideas to the public, as they showcase their skills in sales, presentation and communication, and are judged by a multidisciplinary team of judges. The projects selected in these competitions move on to the last stage of the program: the National Competition "The Company".

The National Competition "The Company" was held in Porto on 25 of May and had Isabel Gião de Andrade as one of its jurors on behalf of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation.

This is the final stage of a program where approximately 6.000 secondary school students from Portugal’s 18 districts tried their hand at creating and managing an entrepreneurial project, with the support of a teacher and a volunteer from one of the associated companies over the course of a school year.

The winning team will go on to represent Portugal at the Gen-E Festival, which celebrates the entrepreneurship and achievements of thousands of enterprising European students aged 15 and over. There they will present their innovative businesses and compete for the titles of "Best Company of the Year" and "Best Start-up of the Year". This year the final Gen-E 2022 event will be held in Tallinn by Junior Achievement Eesti (Junior Achievement Estonia), between 12 and 14 July.
