Legal Framework for Voluntary Guardianship
10 February marks the fourth year since the new Legal Framework for Voluntary Guardianship came into force.
This new legal paradigm, intended to protect citizens of age who need care, has introduced a set of comprehensive and complex legislative changes which have resulted in the need to support social workers and healthcare professionals, caregivers and citizens in the assessment, interpretation and enforcement of the new framework.
In this context and as part of its mission, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation in partnership with the European Anti-Poverty Network - EAPN Portugal has implemented over the past 4 years the InclusivaMente Project: Direitos Humanos no Envelhecimento e na Saúde Mental [Human Rights in Aging and Mental Health].
The project consists of a training and coaching program for Professionals, Families and Beneficiaries on the legal framework of this new regime and the training sessions are led by Paula Guimarães (legal expert and social entrepreneur) and Maria do Rosário Zincke dos Reis (lawyer).
