VdA’s Filipa Tropa Coelho and Rebeca Mcleod participated in the (Un)limited Fairs/JAP Unlimited as part of the partnership between the Fundação Vasco Vieira de Almeida and Junior Achievement Portugal.

 Rebeca Mcleod was a juror in the Lisbon fair and Filipa Tropa Coelho participated in the Porto Professions Fair. 

 The virtual (Un)limited Fairs had 65 Jurors this year, with 179 projects submitted by 900 students aged between 15 and 25 from all over the country. The projects were designed by young entrepreneurs in high school, vocational school, and progressive education systems, as part of the A Empresa [The Enterprise] program. Over the school year, every student developed an innovative project to address a current need that had to be solved and put together a business plan to implement it. I was extremely excited and proud to represent VdA’s Human Resources department in Junior Achievement Portugal (JAP) Profession Fairs. This virtual event allowed me to get to know High School students participating in the Porto Unlimited Fair as part of the A Empresa program and give them a glimpse of what Human Resources day-to-day is like within an organization. I started my career in at JAP in 2010, so to me it was like coming home to many happy memories and an especially rewarding time in my life. At JAP I worked as a Primary School curriculum manager and as volunteer!

I believe that promoting young entrepreneurship is synonymous with searching for solutions, being inquisitive and nonconformist with what surrounds us, believing that we can always have a significant impact on our community. I think that promoting this kind of initiatives is key to encourage these young people from an early age to acquire new knowledge and skills, which are essential for their professional and personal development.
