Launch of the Professor Francisco Vieira de Almeida Award, on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation

To mark its 2nd anniversary, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation launches the Professor Francisco Vieira de Almeida Award on 13 December.

This award is launched in partnership with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, to honor the memory and vast body of work of Professor Francisco Vieira de Almeida, a remarkable citizen and iconic professor of this Faculty, who left his imprint on the intellectual life of the University.

With the aim of revealing new talents and academic works in diverse humanities research areas, to be defined in each new edition of the competition, which will be held on a biennial basis, applications are open to undergraduate, Master’s and PhD degree holders, as well as postdoctoral researchers, from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. The best paper submitted in each edition will receive a prize in the amount of €20,000.00 (to which a maximum sum of € 5,000.00 will be added towards publication expenses), following evaluation by a jury composed of Miguel Tamen (Director of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon), José Pedro Serra (Director of the Library of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon) and António Feijó (Pro-Rector of the University of Lisbon and Director of the University of Lisbon Press), in addition to a non-permanent member nominated by the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation.

The award will be launched at an event held at VdA’s auditorium, attended by Vasco Vieira de Almeida, Founding Partner of Vieira de Almeida, and Margarida Couto, CEO of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation.
