On 20-21 June, the 2nd edition of Aldeia da Inovação Social, the largest social innovation event in Portugal, was held in Aldeia da Luz, in Mourão, Alentejo. During these two days, Portugal Inovação Social, in partnership with Cooperativa António Sérgio para a Economia Social (CASES) and the Portuguese Association for Social Innovation (ESLIDER), brought together the main agents of change of the social innovation ecosystem in Portugal and Europe to participate in conversations, debates, workshops and project presentations for all ages and audiences, promoting exchange, reflection, dialogue, synergies and partnerships.

On 20 June, Margarida Couto participated as a speaker in the Palco Primeira Pessoa and in the roundtable on Social Investment in Portugal: Priorities and Challenges.

Maria Folque was a speaker in the roundtable on Social Enterprises and New Forms of Intervention, held on 21 June.

VdA’s Social Economy and Human Rights practice contributed to the event by organising a legal workshop on the topic “How to (effectively) integrate social businesses in non-profit organisations”, which was attended by more than 50 participants.

In the context of its action in the social innovation ecosystem in Portugal, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation supported this event as an institutional partner, with the presence of its team during the two days of the event.
