A morning at VdA’s Vegetable Garden | m2 Project

16 October, 2019

In the context of the partnership between Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and BIPP - Inclusion for Disability, a corporate volunteering action took place on October 11, under the m2 Project of the Program “SEMEAR na Terra”.
This initiative had the participation of 18 VdA volunteers who developed activities of weeding, harvesting and agricultural production activities during one morning together with the trainees of the program, contributing to the maintenance of the VdA vegetable garden and the planting of 2000 plants / vegetables and harvesting 1 ton of potatoes.
The m2 Project is promoted by BIPP and its main objective is the training and the socio-professional integration of young people and adults with intellectual and developmental difficulties, through certified training and experience in biological agricultural production and transformation activities.

“It was a rewarding and enriching experience! We gave manpower and time, a precious asset to all human beings, and we have received smiles and gratitude for having collaborated on a noble and interesting project, which takes into consideration economic and social sustainability, enabling integration into the labour market of “different” people, as well as environmental sustainability, insofar as it respects nature and avoids waste.
On the ground we could see that in order to reap the “fruits” of our work, we first have to sow, water, care and give time for magic to happen.
We have found that, in agriculture too, teamwork is a great asset!”
