JA Worldwide nominated for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize

20 February, 2024

Junior Achievement Worldwide (JA) has been nominated for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize for the third year running.

With over 100 years of history, JA is one of the largest NGOs focused on working with young people around the world, teaching them to develop skills to enter the professional market and to build a stable and inclusive social environment.

In Portugal, JA's counterpart is Junior Achievement Portugal (JAP), which was founded in 2005  and currently has the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation as a member.

Today, JA works with young people in contexts of political instability, violence and war, helping them to create new opportunities and giving them tools to be resilient in building more prosperous communities.

This third nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is a reflection of the work that JA has been doing and which, according to Gonçalo Duque CEO of JAP, "reinforces the importance of our work with children and young people, not only economically, but also as agents of change and builders of peace".
