Class of Wonders

Education

Class of Wonders is an organisation that aims to transform classrooms into environments where all children can learn and progress at their own pace in a meaningful way. To this end, it develops gamified methodologies to support the development of essential literacy and numeracy skills, particularly in the early stages of learning Portuguese and mathematics.

The Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation is a partner of Class of Wonders, supporting two projects: PROSPER – Plataforma Gamificada para a Inclusão na Aprendizagem da Matemática, under Partnerships for Social Innovation (“Parcerias para a Inovação Social”), and Magos4All, through a Social Impact Bond (“Título de Impacto Social”).

PROSPER takes a fresh approach to teaching mathematics in Years 5 and 6, using gamification to make learning more engaging, motivating and accessible. Through a digital platform offering content tailored to each student's needs, the project aims to boost engagement, foster autonomy, and encourage the development of key skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving. With a particular focus on disadvantaged educational contexts, the project aims to impact over 10,000 students from schools within Priority Intervention Educational Territories (TEIP – “Territórios Educativos de Intervenção Prioritária”), across the Portuguese regions of the North, Centre, Lisbon, Alentejo and Algarve.

In turn, Magos4All focuses on learning Portuguese as a non-native language, supporting students from diverse linguistic backgrounds with digital tools that facilitate learning and enable progress to be monitored both in and out of the classroom. The project promotes more effective integration into the school environment and strengthens equal access to education.

Although they address different challenges, both projects share the same goal: recognising the diversity of educational pathways and creating conditions that allow all children and young people to learn, grow and thrive.

Believing in education means believing in the future. With this in mind, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation supports projects that promote learning opportunities for all children and young people.
