Kêlê Mbê

The Kêlê Mbê Association was founded on the belief that fundamental social change is possible in São Tomé and Príncipe. Founded by three volunteers who started working on the ground in 2020, the Association is committed to tackling social and educational exclusion by mobilising resources and forming partnerships that strengthen support for children, young people, and their families.
Based on the principles of solidarity, equality and responsibility, Kêlê Mbê works closely with local communities, seeking to address specific needs and create genuine opportunities for personal and social development.
The Association's mission is to improve the quality of life of the people of São Tomé and Príncipe by:
- ensuring access to inclusive, high-quality education;
- reducing early school leaving;
- reducing inequalities through social, educational and cultural projects and activities; and
- ensuring access to basic necessities.
The Association's work is carried out by a network of volunteers who plan and run educational activities, provide ongoing support for children and young people, and reinforce school learning.
In line with VdA’s international presence, the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation has extended its work to São Tomé and Príncipe by supporting the Kêlê Mbê Association in 2024. This support strengthens the Foundation’s commitment to promoting education and consolidates its strategic position in generating sustainable social impact
