Associação BIPP - Inclusão para a Deficiência

Education for Citizenship

BIPP - Inclusion for Disability is an IPSS (private institution of social solidarity) whose mission is to promote the inclusion of children, young people and adults with intellectual and developmental difficulties. In this context, it develops the "SEMEAR: Terra de Oportunidades (Land of Opportunities)" project, an inclusive social business that aims to improve the employability and socio-professional integration of people with disabilities through certified training and the development of hands-on skills in organic agricultural production and processing.

In the context of its own mission and strategic axes – notably those of Education, Human Rights and Sustainability – the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation has partnered up with SEMEAR in its most recent initiative: the m2 Project.

This project allows both young and older adults with intellectual and developmental difficulties to learn about and gain first-hand experience in the agricultural and horticultural industry, through the upkeep of an arable plot of land operated by the BIPP Association.

As a partner in this project, the VVA Foundation contributes to the maintenance of a 400m2 organic vegetable garden that is tended by the trainees themselves, and which will also see the involvement of VdA lawyers and staff in the context of the Firm’s volunteering activities.

  • Contribution to the project’s sustainability: more training and employment for people with intellectual and developmental difficulties
  • Possibility of involving VdA lawyers and staff in all aspects of the vegetable garden tending process, learning with and alongside young people with intellectual and developmental difficulties
  • Organic production of native vegetables, according to the season and the project’s crop plan
