ProChild CoLAB Against Poverty and Social Exclusion (ProChild CoLAB) is a private, non-profit Association recognised by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) as a Collaborative Laboratory since November 2018. 

By adopting a transdisciplinary and holistic scientific approach, ProChild CoLAB brings together universities and various social, public and private partners to develop a national strategy to combat poverty and social exclusion in childhood. This strategy is based on the integration of social intervention and technological innovation.

The Collaborative Laboratory seeks to become a leading institution in studying and developing integrated, effective solutions to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty, promoting the development, well-being, and rights of children.

The Association's work places children and their needs at the centre of research and innovation, developing projects and intervention models that combine two major complementary areas: social intervention and digital technologies. Within the scope of social intervention, six strategic areas stand out, each with projects implemented in different regions:

1. Health and well-being;
2. Development and education;
3. Social participation;
4. Protection;
5. Digital technology;
6. Biology and development.

ProChild CoLAB currently brings together various academic partners and public and private entities, including the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation as a founding partner and Board member. This collaboration enables the development of innovative solutions to highly complex, large-scale problems and promotes a multidisciplinary approach that delivers significant social and economic impact, grounded in a robust governance model.
